Heat shrinkable moulded shapes are used in a variety of industries, most commonly defence, aerospace and automotive. They are also referred to as shrink boots. Similar to regular heat shrink tubes, they are made of thermoplastic materials that shrink tightly around the object when heated. By providing this effect in specific geometric shapes, an even higher level of robustness, electrical insulation and protection is achieved while making installation easier. Specially formed shapes are used on critical parts of electrical installations. One example is cable harness splicing, where 2-way shapes (T-shapes, Y-shapes) are often the only suitable longterm solution.
